I am a forestry intern working as a research assistant at the Bioproduct Institute at the University of British Columbia. Until now, I have been working on the vegan wood leather project. Specifically, the project involves delignification, drying, plasticizing, waxing and many other steps to make the wood pieces flexible and soft.

I have been working in the root ecology Laboratory in China for four months during the summer term. There were many projects in the lab, and I was mainly responsible for the project on the relationship between root and leaf genotype and seed size. The work was very interesting and engaging, and I was involved in a lot of work related to the cultivation and measurement of plants.

This summer I have been working at Mercer Mass Timber as a Project Coordinator in Okanagan Falls, BC. I have been able to work closely with two project managers on a variety of projects, from small to large. A few tasks that I have helped with been involved with are scheduling, procurement, and compiling submittal information.
