Dr. Hamish van der Ven
Dr. Hamish van der Ven is an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Business Management of Natural Resources in the Department of Wood Science, Faculty of Forestry at UBC. Prior to returning to academia, Hamish worked in a variety of sustainability-oriented roles across the public, private and non-profit sectors. He has published extensively on the use of voluntary sustainability standards and certifications to address sustainability challenges and authored a 2019 book entitled Beyond Greenwash about making credible sustainability claims.
At UBC, Hamish leads the Business, Sustainability and Technology Lab where he conducts interdisciplinary research into the intersection between modern technologies, businesses and social and environmental impacts.
