Summer Student – West Fraser
I have been working at West Fraser’s Blue Ridge Lumber mill as a Summer Student, assisting with a variety of tasks including spark watch, clean-up, painting, and providing support to different crews. Through this experience, I have learned valuable technical and safety skills such as lockout procedures, completing safety forms, using basic tools like grinders, and understanding mill operations.

TreeRing Lab and Field Assistant – The University of British Columbia
I have been working as a Lab and Field Assistant for the TreeRing lab at UBC, where I had the opportunity to delve into post-wildfire assessments. My role involved collecting wildfire-related data, such as examining surface sub-canopy vegetation, assessing surface fuels, and evaluating the health status of trees.

Logistics Summer Student at Mosaic Forest Management in Nanaimo, BC My second summer with Mosaic has been unreal! Recently, I’ve been writing a report on beaver berms. In this photo I’m standing on a ‘beaver buster’, an innovative way Mosaic works with beavers in the area to ensure habitat is maintained as well as road safety and quality.
