Black History Month serves as a time to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of Black students, staff, and faculty within our UBC Forestry community. While we should celebrate these achievements everyday, we hope to offer this time as an opportunity for focused and intentional reflection. Master of International Forestry Field School Returns to Quesnel
In partnership with the City of Quesnel and their Forestry Initiatives Program, UBC Forestry hosted its third Master of International Forestry Field School. This year, 16 students and their professors spent two days in Quesnel speaking to land managers, small businesses, government reps from the local First Nations, the municipality, the provincial government, and industry experts.

UBC Forestry congratulates Sarah Smith-Tripp for receiving the 2022/23 Gordon and Nora Bailey Fellowship in Sustainable Forestry. The Award aims to support students whose studies focus on issues related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, such as sustainable forest management practices, wildfire prevention and carbon capture.

UBC Grad Students to Study Climate Change in Mission Municipal Forest
Graduate students from the Faculty of Forestry at UBC will soon study climate change and sustainability in the Mission Municipal Forest as part of a new partnership agreement between the City of Mission and the university.

Meet Our New Embedded Counsellor for UBC Forestry Students
UBC Forestry warmly welcomes Nicole Adoranti, a Canadian Certified Counsellor, as our newly Embedded Counsellor for both the Faculty of Land and Food Systems and the Faculty of Forestry. Nicole holds a Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology and has been a counsellor in both private practice and the post-secondary environment.
