Peter Wood joins the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship at UBC as a lecturer and coordinator for the Master of International Forestry (MIF) program. He has worked in the field of international forest policy, human rights and sustainability for over two decades in a variety of roles.
What is “International Forestry”?
When I tell people I’ve recently started a new role as lecturer and coordinator for UBC’s Master of International Forestry (MIF) program, one of the first questions I get is, “what exactly is international forestry”?

Celebrating Black History Month 2023
Black History Month serves as a time to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of Black students, staff, and faculty within our UBC Forestry & Environmental Stewardship community. While we should celebrate these achievements everyday, we hope to offer this time as an opportunity for focused and intentional reflection. This year, we are grateful to share with you four stories of some of our amazing Forestry students and alumni.
Master of International Forestry Field School Returns to Quesnel
In partnership with the City of Quesnel and their Forestry Initiatives Program, UBC Forestry & Environmental Stewardship hosted its third Master of International Forestry Field School. This year, 16 students and their professors spent two days in Quesnel speaking to land managers, small businesses, government reps from the local First Nations, the municipality, the provincial government, and industry experts.
